Discontinuous conductance of bichromatically ac-gated quantum wires

چکیده
We study the electron transport through a quantum wire under the influence of external time-dependent gate voltages. The wire is modeled by a tight-binding Hamiltonian for which we obtain the current from the corresponding transmission. The numerical evaluation of the dc current reveals that for bichromatic driving, the conductance depends sensitively on the commensurability of the driving frequencies. The current even possesses a discontinuous frequency dependence. Moreover, we find that the conductance as a function of the wire length oscillates with a period that depends on the ratio between the driving frequencies.

Conductance in quantum wires by three quantum dots arrays
A noninteracting quantum-dot arrays side coupled to a quantum wire is studied. Transport through the quantum wire is investigated by using a noninteracting Anderson tunneling Hamiltonian. The conductance at zero temperature develops an oscillating band with resonances and antiresonances due to constructive and destructive interference in the ballistic channel, respectively. Moreover, we have fo...

متن کاملAC conductance and non-symmetrized noise at finite frequency in quantum wires and carbon nanotubes
We calculate the AC conductance and the finite-frequency non-symmetrized noise in interacting quantum wires and single-wall carbon nanotubes in the presence of an impurity. We observe a strong asymmetry in the frequency spectrum of the non-symmetrized excess noise, even in the presence of the metallic leads. We find that this asymmetry is proportional to the differential excess AC conductance o...
متن کاملAcoustoconductance of quantum contacts
We describe theoretically the acoustoconductance (AC) of quantum contacts. One characteristic of a contact which distinguishes it from a long, uniform wire is a strong, energy-dependent transmission probability. This has several consequences for AC. Electrons which are forward scattered by phonons can contribute to AC and, furthermore, AC can have positive sign (i.e. a conductance-increase unde...
